Sunshine Grindz is Amelia Island’s premier event caterer. Recently relocated from Hawaii, we bring a wealth of culinary knowledge and experience to the area. We started our journey together when we met at The Culinary Institute of America over a decade ago. We have worked with industry leaders including Abigail Kirsch Catering, The Westchester Country Club, and Alan Wong’s Restaurant. In 2015 we left the Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui, our home of six years. Jonathan served as chef of the AAA Five Diamond Resort’s Signature Restaurant, Banyan Tree. Our time on Maui helped us develop our distinct culinary style, blending our French training with the rich tradition of Hawaiian and Asian cuisine. Together we have more than 25 years of culinary experience ready to fulfill all of your catering needs
  
Jonathan Haynes
Jonathan discovered his passion for food while working with Darden Restaurants. He went on to attend the Culinary Institute of America where he and Risé first met each other. While in school Jonathan worked at the Westchester Country Club where he learned from internationally acclaimed Master Chef Edward Leonard. Jonathan completed his Internship at Alan Wong's Restaurant in Oahu. While working in Oahu Jonathan became enchanted by the Hawaiian Islands. Rise and Jonathan moved to Maui where Jonathan worked for the Ritz Carlton, Kapalua for six years. Jonathan held various positions throughout the hotel's culinary departments and eventually became chef at hotel's signature Restaurant, Banyan Tree. Jonathan is committed to the culinary arts and loves to satisfy the discerning palates of his customers.
Risé Haynes
Rise grew up in a suburb of Tokyo but came to the United States to attend high school in Florida. After high school, Rise moved to New York to attend The Culinary Institute of America. While Rise completed her culinary school externship with the Amelia Island Plantation. Following graduation she went on to work at Abigail Kirsch Catering Company where she found her passion for catering and creative cooking. From there Rise furthered her career with The Ritz Carlton, Kapalua in Hawaii. While there she was the chef for the exclusive Club Lounge. Rise has a diverse skill set including Line, Garde Manger, Breakfast and Banquet Kitchen experience.
